FAQ

Good to know

The minimum age at our studio is 18. No exceptions, so please bring valid ID. With this strict rule we also protect minors from getting a tattoo they will eventually regret.

Yes. But everyone experiences it differently. Some places hurt more than others, and some people even say they're addicted to the pain.

Fill in the contact form or email us at info@inkdistrict.nl with a detailed description of your preferred design, style, placement on the body and size. You can add up to 5 inspiration pictures. We'll get back to you as soon as possible.

Please note we don't copy existing tattoos or designs — your artist will create a new design based on the inspiration you send. For text tattoos, pick your font on dafont.com first, it saves a lot of time. For tattoos in foreign languages, please check spelling and meaning carefully; we're not translators.

You're also welcome to walk into the shop and talk to whoever is available.

For every tattoo appointment we ask for a deposit of €50 for small to medium projects or €100 for larger projects, payable at the shop or by bank transfer within 48 hours of booking. The deposit comes off the final price of your tattoo.

Cancellations and changes are free up to a week before your appointment. Within a week of your appointment, deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable. Deposits for guest artists are always non-refundable.

It depends on the artist, but our minimum shop price is €100. The final price depends on size, level of detail, placement on the body and which artist you book. Once we have all the information we can always give you a price estimate.

Cash, debit card, credit card and even bitcoin. Guest artists accept cash only.

Make sure you're well rested and have eaten before your appointment. We recommend coming by yourself — our waiting room is primarily for waiting clients.

Please don't make plans right after your session. We want the best quality for you, so don't put a time limit on your artist. Also be aware that we often have someone photographing and filming the artists at work in the studio.

You can, but seating at the front of the shop is very limited. The tattoo area at the back is only for clients who are being tattooed.

We love kids, but for hygiene and concentration reasons a tattoo shop isn't the right place for them to hang out.

Get a good night's sleep, eat a proper meal and stay hydrated. We can only work with you if you're completely sober — being under the influence of alcohol or drugs will get you sent home. Don't take painkillers either; they thin your blood and can affect the tattoo and the healing.

For larger pieces or sensitive spots, wear comfortable clothing, and avoid white — black ink can leave a nasty stain.

We have several fine line specialists in the team. With fine line work it's possible that some lines fade more than others after a few weeks. That's no problem — message us within 6 months and we'll arrange a touch-up appointment. It's included in the price.

This applies only to work done by our current resident artists. We don't touch up work by former or guest artists.

A fresh tattoo is essentially a wound. It takes roughly 4 to 6 weeks for it and the surrounding skin to heal.

If your tattoo is covered with sterile compression or cling film, remove it after 3 to 5 hours. Second skin plaster can come off after 24 hours, preferably in the shower.

Then:

  • Wash the tattoo twice a day with a mild fragrance-free soap.
  • Pat it dry with a clean or single-use towel.
  • Apply a thin layer of the cream your artist gave or recommended. Larger tattoos need this for longer.

During healing: touch it as little as possible and wash your hands first, don't scratch it, don't cover it with tight or dirty clothing, bandages or film, and avoid baths, swimming pools, sea water, saunas and steam baths. Keep it out of sunlight and tanning beds.

Once healed, the skin stays very sensitive to sun — always use a high-factor sunscreen.

Contact your doctor if you get extreme redness, swelling, bleeding, wound fluid, colour change or persistent pain.

No, we don't test ink on people. Check with your GP or dermatologist — that's the safest route. If you have other allergies or sensitive skin, research carefully whether a tattoo could trigger a reaction. Always tell us about any allergies or skin conditions.

If you have pain or your skin reacts to the ink, we always advise contacting your doctor.

We announce on social media which guest artists are coming and when, always with their contact details so you can reach them directly about the project and the price.
